Indian Ink Portrait

Design Choice Communications Portfolio: The Scientist ink illustration © 2006

The Scientist

This portrait started out as a freehand pencil sketch on watercolor paper, and is based upon a reference photo featuring a "colorful character" from the 20th Century. Facial details were painted using Indian Ink, a permanent black dye that cannot be erased once it is applied to paper. This medium is an exacting test of artistic skill and hand-eye coordination.
